Bilbao 2025 opens a new international chapter
The first months of 2025 marked an important milestone for the development of Tambour Sport in the Basque Country, with the organization of the 1st Bilbao Tambour Tournament, an event that represented a significant step forward in the regional growth of the discipline.
Organized by the Basque Association of Beach Tennis and Minority Sports, the tournament took place between January and February through a series of indoor 3-a-side matches, hosted in several sports facilities across the city of Bilbao. Despite challenging weather conditions at the beginning of the event, the competition was characterized by strong participation, fair play and a high overall level of play.
The team Bizkaitarrak claimed the inaugural title after a competitive and well-balanced tournament, demonstrating consistency and technical quality throughout the matches. The final standings reflected a growing competitive environment, capable of offering engaging matches and fostering positive sporting exchange among all participating teams.
Following the success of this first event, activities continued with the 1st Bizkaia Tambour Tournament, during which Bizkaitarrak once again confirmed their competitiveness by securing victories in two intense and high-paced matches.
These initial experiences have laid solid foundations for the future development of Tambour Sport in the region. The next major event on the calendar will be the 1st Basque Country Tambour Championship, scheduled for April 2025, which will be held entirely indoors on a regulation-size court.
The increasing local interest, combined with strong organizational commitment and active athlete participation, highlights the growing presence of Tambour Sport in the Basque Country. This progress contributes to the broader international expansion promoted by FIBaT and reinforces the discipline’s position within the European sporting landscape.
